Advise

Professional Advisors in the legal, accounting and financial services professions are in a unique position to help increase the philanthropic resources in Nicholas County by working with the Nicholas County Community Foundation. Whether your clients are interested in tax advantages, building a family tradition of giving or finding an effective alternative to a private foundation, we can help!

Working together

As a professional advisor, the opportunity you have to help your clients achieve their charitable goals is both a privilege and a challenge.   We consider attorneys, accountants, financial planners, insurance agents and other professionals who have relationships with donors to be our valued partners in charitable giving.  We want to be a resource for you and your clients.  By working with the NCCF, you can effectively and efficiently help your clients consider these options and meet their charitable goals.

How can we help?

The NCCF is a tax-exempt, public trust designed to facilitate fund development, fund management and grant making in Nicholas County.

The NCCF invests all contributions to the endowment; hence all gifts are lasting and permanent.  The principal is never spent, only a portion of the income is distributed.  Your clients can be assured that their charitable intent will benefit this and future generations. The NCCF can make good financial sense for your clients.

We can provide your clients with:

Substantial Tax Savings. Because our community foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization, all gifts to it are tax deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.

Low Administrative Costs. As a public charity, the Foundation is exempt from excise tax and is free of many of the administrative costs and restrictions placed on private foundations. Therefore, more of your clients’ dollars can be used to address charitable needs in the community.

West Virginia State Tax Credits. The NCCF annually applies to participate in the Neighborhood Investment Program, this provides us with an allocation of Tax Credits for the State of West Virginia which can significantly reduce your clients tax burden.  Your client can receive West Virginia state tax credits in the amount of one half of their c charitable  donation of $500 or more, based on availability, and still receive the full federal tax deduction.

Professional Stewardship of Assets. Preserving and growing charitable dollars to meet the ever-changing needs of communities is our goal. Regular performance monitors, a diversified investment portfolio that minimizes market risk are just some of the ways the Community Foundation demonstrates the highest levels of professional financial stewardship.

Support of Charitable Interests. The Nicholas County Community Foundation provides a variety of fund options for donors. This is particularly appealing to donors who have many charitable interests, as well as those who wish to have varying degrees of involvement in making decisions about charitable contributions. Grants from funds at the Community Foundation can be made in the donor’s name, and multiple generations can be involved in the grant making process.

Providing you and your clients with options

We offer a wide range of charitable solutions to meet your clients’ needs.
